Child Safety at BMPC

Thank you for your important service to the mission of BMPC! The safety and care for the children at the church are of the upmost importance to us. Please see the three-step process on how to become an Approved Adult at BMPC.

How to become an approved adult

There is a three-step process required for a member of BMPC to become an Approved Adult. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brittany Williams (brittany@bmpcnc.org), Pat Tuttle (profpatwwc@gmail.com), or Mary Katherine Robinson (mk@bmpcnc.org).

  • STEP 1 - “Darkness to Light” Part I - Complete the online video/tutorial - “Stewards of Children” - on your own. (You will have to register with Darkness to Light before you can watch the curriculum.) It will take approximately two hours to complete and you will need access to the internet and a printer. The cost is $10 - if this cost is prohibitive to you, the church can reimburse that expense. If you do not have access to the internet you can come to the church and use the internet and a device, if needed. If you do not have access to a printer, please take a copy of the certificate on the screen and email it to Brittany Williams. If you have ever completed this part of the training in the past you do NOT have to take it again.

  • STEP 2 - “Darkness to Light” Part II and Child Safety Covenant - Attend a training with a Child Protection Committee members and BMPC staff representatives. The next training will take place on Sunday, September 24th from 2:00-4:00 PM in CR1. Email Brittany Williams, brittany@bmpcnc.org, to let her know if you plan to attend or sign-up online HERE. (Please note that the “Darkness to Light” Part 1 should be complete prior to this portion of the training.)

  • STEP 1 - Application - Complete an application located below. You can either print it off at home or come by the church for a copy. Then fill it out and return them to Brittany Williams. There will also be copies available at the Part II training.

  • STEP 4 - Background Check - After completing all of the steps above, a background check will be initiated through Verified First and a link will come to your email. You will then fill out the form for the check to take place. Results will be sent to office staff and are kept completely confidential.
